Ragged Top Mountain

...Or as we jokingly called it, "Mount Doom"

Ragged Top is a relatively small mountain about 40 miles north-west of Tucson.  Despite it's size though; it is incredibly rugged and beautiful.  It is about a 2 mile trek up to the 3907 ft. summit, sans trail, and then another 2 mile trek back down the mountain with the hope that you find your car.  Because their is no trail; you really have to keep a close eye on where your car is; and where you are at. It is easy to lose when you get to the flat ground.

Post #101 - Mount Lemon

This past week I had a friend visiting from Colorado. It was an unseasonably warm 103* that day, so we made an escape up the mountain. Here are a couple pictures from our trip

As I was climbing down a steep rocky bank on the side of the road I caught a loose spot (one of many) and took a slide down the hill. Rather than throwing the camera; I sacrificed my body.

Santa Rita Flowers

On our hike last Saturday; I was amazed by how many wildflowers were blooming on our way up. It wasn't until on our way down when I started taking pictures of them that I noticed the vast variety of wildflowers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Tucson Inn

I have been on a "retro Tucson" kick the last few days; and am having a great time with it. When it comes to retro, and Tucson; you don't get much more authentic than the Tucson Inn. Like a lot of similar places it is unfortunately not in the best of shape. Maybe though; that is why it fascinates me so much.

Summer Nights

Downtown Tucson is one of those odd places where as soon as the soon goes down; they roll up the sidewalks. It reminds me of a one stop, blink and you miss it towns; on a grand scale. Besides the downtown transit center; it is a quiet place. Downtown is however undergoing a huge revitalization project with the goal that it will give the city a greater sense of place. Maybe in five years this scene will be a vastly different place.

Home from the Road

I returned home from Colorado yesterday afternoon to 114* weather as I passed through Florence. I can't say I'm a big fan of the weather right now; but of course I didn't move here for the summers. Colorado was absolutely beautiful; Highs in the upper 70's, a little rain and a lot of sun. Be sure to take a look tomorrow for some images from Ashlie and Evan's wedding. So what do you do when your faced with an overcast day and the occasional rain shower? You play in it of course! I actually didn't make it out too much today, but I was able to take some pictures this afternoon before it got dark. Being that I live in the desert, I don't have to many opportunities to explore the joy of photographing puddles; and the other world you find in them. I could almost see this becoming a bedtime story; or better yet, a photographic story. Thanks for looking
