"Seeing is Believing"

I realized after writing my last post that I talked about all these friends that I have, but did not include a single picture of them. Just to clarify for everyone, they are not imaginary! A few years back I had a friend whose family thought I was imaginary. He would always talk about "hanging out with Bob". Bob being one of those generic names and the fact that they had never met me, well, you see where this is going. As the old saying goes though, "Seeing is Believing".

Diversity

These last few days I have been able to take in some of the amazing diversity and beauty found in southern Arizona. Saturday I was up Mount Lemon with a couple friends. At just over 9000 feet it tends to feel a little more like Colorado than the desert southwest; a welcome getaway from the summer heat. Part way down the mountain we found this beautiful flowering cactus. I love the contrast between the desert cactus and the mountain pines.
Sunday afternoon I went over to Tucson mountain Park with a couple photography friends of mine. It is equally as beautiful as Mount Lemon, but in a completely different sense! I have talked to several Tucsonans who have never been over there; if that is you I highly recommend you go!

Desert Christian Class of 2009

The thing I am finding out about graduations is that the less people there are graduating, the more they pack into the graduation. So whether their are 600 graduates, like my graduating class of 2003, or 55 graduates, it still takes just as long. I appreciate smaller graduations though as they are a lot more personal. There is time to share a little about each student and honor them; as apposed to shooting them through an assembly line! Perhaps this says more about me than the graduations themselves; I like life to be a little more intimate.

Congratulations to the class of 2009!

New Shoes; the moral of the story

New shoes; what kind of life lesson could possible be gleaned from a pair of new shoes. A lot actually, depending how deep and imaginative you want to go. I hopefully won't stretch your mind too much, but I wanted to compare new shoes to the importance of photography.

When you start out a relationship, or have a baby, everything is new. You have no experiences or memories together. The same goes for your new pair of shoes. Years later though when the once new shoes are now your favorite shoes; so perfectly broken in and seeping with the memories of your travels, every thing changes. You now look back with fond memories to when they were new, to when your now graduating senior was just a toddler. You look back at your wife to be and remember that first date, although at the time it was really no different than any other date.

Never stop capturing all the moments that today may seem like the mundane and ordinary, because one day you will look back and wish you had more.

Desert Christian #7

It was the final game of the season for Desert Christian; and for those graduating maybe even the final game ever. It was a great game; but in the end they didn't quite make the win. Thanks for looking!
